TARDIS lighting nailed, I reckon! Using clamp lights, a 75w halogen bulb shooting through the roof to the lamp, a big old 65w flood clamped half way down for the interior :) Tomorrow the wireless speakers arrive for sound effects and music (2 inside, another 2 outdoor speakers mounted on the roof out of sight), hooked up to an ipod loaded with goodness. Theeeeen, the next project is to set up the projector and edit together a projected montage of clips from the show, lighting up the big blue box at an angle so two whole sides are covered. Imagine the Doctor / Rose scene where they’re pressing their faces against the white walls, with one on one side, one on the other - yeah, bloody hell :) So yes, it’ll be like the Magic Kingdom’s ‘The Magic, The Memories and You’, except it’ll be Whovian themed, projected against the side of the TARDIS and called something like ‘The Wibbly, The Wobbly and the Timey Wimey’.

I am absolutely trembling with the joys of geekmas, you guys! x

No, you’re not mistaken - I have indeed made a Monty Python Ministry of Silly Walks clock! I was inspired by this wristwatch, but that was a bit too expensive for me to buy and too difficult for me to make myself.

So instead I made this on a 20x20 cm canvas, onto which I decoupaged the clock’s face (the numbers and John Cleese’s upper body :P). For the clock’s hands I cut out suitable legs from this image and did a bit of photoshopping to improve the image quality. I then used a harder kind of plastic folder, onto which I decoupaged and afterwards cut out the legs. These I glued onto regular clock hands which I had bought (and later cut off so only the attachment at the top remained for adding the legs to the clockwork). I made a hole in the middle of the canvas, put in a clockwork, attached the hands — aaand done!

Things I bought:
Canvas
Clockwork and hands
Decoupage glue and brush (and any other stuff needed for decoupage)

Things I printed:
Clock face with numbers and upper body
Legs for clock hands

Other things I ended up needing:
Plastic folder
Black marker (for hiding white edges)
Awl
Razor blade
Wire cutters
Small brush for touch-ups

MUST… HAVE… IN… MY… HOME!!!

Making a Simple Tardis Bookcase =============

~ $60 + 15 hours (lots of it in between waiting for paint/ wood glue to dry)

bill of material:

1. structural (use screws)
2 pcs - 11.25” x 0.75” x 18” (sold as 11.5” by 1”, cut to 18” at HomeDepot)
4 pcs - 11.25” x 0.75” x 36” (sold as 11.5” by 1”, cut to 36”)
24+ pcs - I used #6 x 1.25” (anything #6 - #10 and 1”+long would be fine)
1 pcs - 19” x 36” (backboard; can be cut from big 4’ by 8’ of of thin plywood)

2. top decoration (use wood glue)
2 pcs - 3.5” x 0.75” x 12” (sold as 3.75” by 1”, cut to 12”)
1 pcs - 3.5” x 0.75” x 19.5” (sold as 3.75” by 1”, cut to 19.5”)
1 pcs - 11.25” x 0.75” x 17.5” (sold as 11.5” by 1”, cut to 17.5”)

3. fine decoration (use wood glue)
6 pcs - 31.75” x 2” (cut from big plywood sheet)
12 pcs - 2.625” x 2” (same plywood. * I used 11/32” thickness, but any works)
4 pcs - 2.625” x 1” ( just break two of above into 4 pieces)

4. For the top tardis alarm light, I used a PVC pipe connected to a pipe cap

5. your choice of blue spray paint + wood glue

You can buy all these from HomeDepot, and get most of them cut for free there as well. Pictures are worth a thousand words, so I made some CAD drawing for anyone who wants to try this as a weekend project. Good Luck and Cheers!
